YOGAloha • May 2019

YOGAloha combined yoga with adventurous activities in a beautiful location that included sun, water, and wildlife. In addition to daily yoga for all levels, we paddle boarded, snorkeled, hiked, and experienced the beauty around us.  This retreat was located on the Big Island of Hawaii. We explored the spiritual side of the authentic Hawaiian culture with Mimi Towle, who was born and raised on the island and provides travel experiences for others professionally. The amazing fresh and healthy cuisine was by an amazing wahini, Faun Skyles.  And of course, we dove deeply into yoga with Kristen Addicks. Classes were themes with our activities and customized for desires. Classes were on the beach, in the shade, and palm trees were used as props.

The Big Island of Hawaii is known for its transformative healing powers.  We were inspired to help this community get back on its feet after the previous year’s volcanic eruption and hurricane which took a toll on the tourism but not the aloha spirit or beauty. We enjoyed walking through the King’s Trail lava field seeing the timeless petroglyphs. We ‘swogged’ and swam with manta rays. We visited historical sites,’talked story’ with locals, and listened to hawaiian music under the stars.
Stay tuned for the next one.
